About us

Hopkins Correctional Centre is a medium security prison located in Ararat which houses up to 798 male offenders.


About the role

Reporting to the General Manager, Corporate Services, The Planning & Performance Manager is responsible for developing and implementing a program of continuous quality improvement that includes systems to collate and evaluate performance data from a range of sources; providing reports that reflect emerging trends, risks, and achievements.

The Performance and Planning Manager undertakes complex project work and related tasks which includes the development and implementation of strategic business plans and compliance, monitor progress against plans and support managers in the delivery of the plans. The role is also responsible for providing analysis, interpretation, and recommendations for identified issues, particularly in relation to performance against Service Delivery Outcomes.

The role oversees and develops the quality and compliance program within the Prison to ensure accountability, data collection and quality service delivery.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:


Technical Expertise

  • Demonstrated ability to develop, monitor and report on strategic business plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop systems and to analyse data from a range of sources in order to evaluate and improve services and programs.


Essential attributes and skills

  • Strategic Planning: Coaches others and engages key stakeholders in strategic planning process. Thinks at the whole of system level and undertakes internal and external scanning, considering wide-ranging possibilities in developing a vision for the future; translates strategic direction into team and individual plans and daily activities for self and others.
  • Project Delivery: Translates strategies into programs or projects that enables achievement of outcomes required; defines governance e.g. success measures, roles and responsibilities, progress monitoring) required to manage risks and maximise probability of success.
  • Stakeholder Management: Identifies issues in common for one or more clients or stakeholders and uses them to build mutually beneficial partnerships; identifies and responds to stakeholder’s underlying needs; uses understanding of the stakeholder’s organisational context to ensure outcomes are achieved.

  • Team Management: Ensures staff are productively deployed through effective workforce planning practices. Translates organisational strategy into workforce requirements (e.g. roles, team structures, capabilities). Takes actions to optimise workforce effectiveness.
  • Lead and Navigate Change: Implement structured change management initiatives at an organisational level; clarify purpose and benefits of change to staff and provide leadership in times of uncertainty.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
