Midwife / registered nurse services

Job Description

This position will provide a high quality and effective service of assessment, support, advice and referral to enhance health, safety and well-being through involvement with pregnant and postnatal women, as well as other Acute-unit patients.

As a midwife, you will

  • Provide quality care to obstetric patients during all stages of their pregnancy.
  • Provide support and assistance to new mothers, including breastfeeding advice and assistance with general parent-craft.
  • Be responsible for ensuring that clinical practice and delivery of care is consistent with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia Standards for Practice.
  • Provide physical, emotional and environmental assistance for patients in addition to supporting the them through counselling and education
  • Plan, deliver, evaluate and review nursing care in partnership with the patient / resident, their family, carers and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Prioritise workload based on needs, acuity and optimal time for intervention and provide leadership and coordination of work for less experienced staff.
  • Provide supervision and mentorship to students and less experienced staff in their ability to provide safe and effective care.

The successful candidate must have current experience in midwifery and general nursing, good communication skills, along with the ability to work independently in the labour ward and liaise with GP Obstetricians.

Also required is evidence of current completion of / participation in:

  • FSEP Level 3
  • PROMPT
  • PPH management
  • Neo-Resus / MANE

The ability to contribute and practice collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team is vital.
