Welfare Worker Class 2 – 3
Permanent Part Time
(56 hrs per fortnight)

We are seeking applications from individuals who have relevant experience and qualifications in welfare, social work, nursing or allied health to join our Community Options team. This permanent part time position is available for an immediate start and includes working between Monday and Friday. Hours and days are flexible, school hours and working from home on some days can be negotiated. The primary purpose of this position is to assess, coordinate, facilitate and monitor the provision of support services to Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) and Support for Carer Program (SCP) clients. The Carer Respite Co-ordinator works closely with subcontractors, medical & allied health services and other members of the Community Options team to assist and support people and their carers to live independently in their own homes.

Wimmera Community Options is an expanding business located in modern offices in central Horsham, opposite May Park. We are a business that supports aged members of the community to remain living in their homes for as long as possible. This is achieved with support of Home Care Packages funded by the Commonwealth Government and administered by skilled team members.

Key Selection Criteria include:

Essential:

  • Relevant qualifications or experience in welfare, social work, nursing or allied health
  • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to effectively manage time and prioritise
  • Excellent computer and documentation/reporting skills
  • Current Victorian driver’s license

Desirable:

  • Demonstrated ability to engage carers and use appropriate assessment skills to determine eligibility and priority for service
  • Demonstrated understanding of issues faced by carer’s and people they assist
  • Demonstrated skills with advocacy, negotiation and conflict resolution
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
