Staff Development Unit

Educator (non-major) (YW4 – YZ7)
Permanent Part Time
(64 hrs per fortnight)

The Position

We are seeking applications from Registered Nurses with suitable experience to join our dedicated Staff Development Unit. This permanent part time position is available from August 2022 and includes working Monday to Friday. The primary purpose of the Critical Care Educator is to facilitate, support and assess Registered Nurses undertaking Post Graduate Studies in Emergency / Critical Care within the Intensive Care Unit or the Emergency Department. In addition, the Critical Care Educator is also responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing contemporary evidence-based education and training designed to meet the learning and development needs of all team members, to ensure patient care is delivered in accordance with current best practice protocols.

The Health Service

Grampians Health – Horsham Campus has an average of 16,000 ED attendances, 12,500 admissions and 4,600 operations annually. We have a modern theatre complex, including a day procedure unit, a five-bed intensive care unit, and subacute wards all set within a picturesque garden setting.

Key Selection Criteria include:

Essential:

  • Registered as a Division 1 Nurse with AHPRA
  • Post-Graduate Qualifications in Emergency / Critical Care Nursing
  • Australian Resuscitation Council ALS 1/ALS 2 Instructors Course
  • High level clinical critical care nursing skills with at least 5 years’ experience in Emergency / Critical Care Nursing following Post-Graduate qualification attainment
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
  • Demonstrated person centred care and quality improvement processes
  • Effective organisational skills, including time management and delegation

Desirable:

  • Certificate IV in Training Assessment (or willingness to work towards)
  • Demonstrated experience in development, implementation and evaluation of clinical teaching programs
  • Post-Graduate qualifications in Education
  • Willing to undertake instructors PALS program
  • Advanced computer skills
