Regional Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist

Hours Negotiable

Grampians Health, East Grampians Health Services and Maryborough District Health Service have collaborated to host a Regional Obstetrician for the Grampians region, which extends from Ararat to the South Australian border, an area of 48,000 square kilometres. More than 230,000 people, or 4.4 per cent of the population of Victoria, live in the Grampians Region.

The mission for this exciting new role is to play a major part in facilitating the delivery of quality maternity and newborn care to the communities we serve by enhancing safe and accessible maternity and newborn services within the capability and capacity of each health service.

Based in Horsham, dedicated time will be spent at each health service, fostering engagement across the sector and promotion of quality and safe and sustainable Maternity and Obstetric care. In addition to a clinical workload at Horsham, the Regional Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist will influence future planning of Maternity and Obstetric care across the Grampians region.

Key Selection Criteria include:

Essential:

  • A current registration as a Medical Specialist with the Medical Practitioners Board of Australia/AHPRA
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG)
  • Demonstrated organisational, time management and problem-solving skills within a complex clinical environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable:

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and harmoniously in a multi-disciplinary team, including supervising, supporting and leading Junior Medical Officers and Medical Students
  • 5 years clinical leadership and management experience including developing team members
